IN THE HOUSE OF THE SOUTHWEST (2 Soil- planning, accumulation)
In some ways, this house is similar to the previous month. Still
at issue, are the difficulties in making visible progress towards
your greater hopes and dreams. Also, people and situations may place arduous, even
ridiculous, tasks and demands upon you.
However, your inward energy will modify and your outlook will
be more contented with taking on the role of supporting others.
In fact, you will be happy to help those individuals whose
manner is not too overbearing or too unclear. It will be especially
desirable to lend support to those people who share common aspirations
and ideals.
This is a good time to behave
in a conservative manner, especially in social situations. This
will develop an atmosphere of trust and good relations and will
attract others toward you, for advice and information.
Though your spiritual inclinations may not be so strong as in
the previous house, it is still an excellent time to study educational
material and to read uplifting books.
This is a great time to make plans for the future, on your own,
or with others. But, it is not a good time to put major plans
into action. In fact, if you are too pushy and try to force something
to happen, the odds are very high that your plan will backfire,
with results far different than you had hoped. It is much better
to sustain a "steady as she goes" attitude and to maintain
your dream through consistent perseverance.
Next month, you’ll enter the 3 Tree position and there will be a greater potential for visible, active progress. Knowing that, this month provides a valuable opportunity to plan ahead and prepare for the coming time period.
It is best to avoid fatty/greasy foods and all foods that cause stagnation, such as milk, cheese and doughy or toasted
bread.

In addition to the monthly house, above, you also dwell in the house of 2 Soil (afternoon, peace, preparation) for the entire year. During the course of the previous year, you inhabited the house of 1 Water (winter, stillness) and the ki of Water tended to suppress outward progress. Now, things begin to move again, but not quickly. The energy of the year does not highlight great changes or remarkable new adventures. Instead, you can expect a peaceful time, where you can socialize freely, collect tools, gather information and plan for the future. This is an excellent time to discuss your ideas, needs and plans with others, in order to develop a strong basis for the development of your immediate and long-range goals and dreams! It is best to go along with the peaceful nature of the times. Keep your efforts steady and consistent. Avoid forcefulness. Keep chipping away with the slow, steady hand of a sculptor and your plans will take shape. Next year, you will have the opportunity to take great steps forward and to actively build upon the basis of your dreams and plans. But, if you arrive, unprepared, your opportunities will be reduced. The better your plans, this year, the greater your likelihood for success in the future! Possible weakness in spleen, pancreas and, especially, stomach. Two is the energy of late summer; the "dog days". The atmosphere is languid and calm. The surrounding vegetation has assumed its full height and, instead of boisterous growth, things are winding down; becoming slow and dry. Two Soil is associated with stagnation. Once mirthful springs have become parched and shallow. The remaining water is still; resting in thick, murky pools. Since it cannot flow, there is little sense of active progress. The crops have been tended and cultivated, all summer. Even the fall gardens have been planted. Like the surrounding brooks and streams, farm activities have slackened. Now, only the tedious, daily chores remain, in this quiet period between cultivation and harvest. Apparently, a very boring time. Except that the pools are murky because they are teeming with life. The crops need no tending because they are healthy, becoming round and ripe. And the farmers aren't bored because, for the first time all year, they have some extra time to socialize, make marketing arrangements, study, plan for the future, make repairs and acquire new implements...."
